Verbal Pronunciation: Counting System and Onomatopoeia in Drum Learning 1 Purwa Caraka Music Studio
This research aims to further review the use of verbal pronunciation as an alternative in learning drumming to help students understand and internalize rhythm patterns and notation. The two main approaches of pronunciation reviewed are counting system and onomatopoeia (sound imitation), which are integrated in the book of “Purwa Caraka Music Studio's Drum: Panduan Belajar Drum untuk Siswa Grade 1”. This research uses qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, documentation and unstructured interviews with drum students at PCMS Bandung Jl. Mangga. The results showed that verbal recitation not only makes it easier for students to connect rhythm understanding with technical skills on drums, but also clarifies the process of internalizing rhythms before they are practiced. Verbal recitation in drum learning is effective in supporting students' rhythmic skills, and is in line with the views of several music education figures. The novelty of this research is a practical reference for drum teachers to implement verbal recitation in rhythmic music learning.
